Lais Corinthiaca
Portrait Reproduction Gown
This gown is based on a 1926 portrait by
Hans Holbien the younger, a famous painter of the renaissance
era.
Hans Holbien was court painter for Henry the VIII and painted
many court personalities and royal figures of the renaissance.
The portrait of Lais Corinthiaca is said to show the mistress of
Greek artist Apelles, and was sat for by Magdalina Offenburg, a
friend of Hans Holbien.
The gown is made of deep burgundy dupioni silk, and deep gold
dupioni silk. The gown is fully lined and snaps at the
back. The undersleeves and neck ruffle are made of soft
white cotton. The gown is accented with puff and slash styling
at the bodice and lower sleeve, and gold delica beads with white
faux pearls. Her head piece is a heavily beaded headband
with a gold pintucked dupioni snood and deep antique gold delica
beads. The snood is made to hold any long hair on a Tonner
doll. Make sure you take a close look at the handiwork.
Her necklace is also made of deep antique gold delica beads.
As with all of our items, great attention is paid to accurate
historical look and details.
