Henry VIII is remembered for many different things, but most of all
for the fact that he had six wives.
It is not uncommon to run into people with an extreme interest in Tudor history, for different reasons. The story of Henry and his six wives appeals to many people. The Tudor era was a time of opulence, excess and romance. It was also a time of brutality, fear, and loss. Marriages for the nobility weren't generally the result of love, but for political reasons, or in Henry's case with some of his wives, for the want of an heir. Each of Henry's wives was a unique woman, each with their strengths and weaknesses. Two were divorced, two outlived him, and two were executed.
